I've got two cards to share with you this time around. I know it's been ages (okay months) since my last blogging but the card mojo was seriously AWOL! I just sat at my desk starring at stamps and paper just hoping a card would make itself. That sadly did not happen. I tore my craft space completely apart and reorganized hoping to find a little mojo hidden with the dust bunnies. I found a bunch of stamps that were donated to my kiddos two years ago and watched my son go into stamping heaven. That was my inspiration. If this little booger could make a card, well so could I.

SO if you made it this far, you are in for a treat. I'd like to take my absence and make it your gain by offering a prize to one lucky commenter! A great bunch of stamps, twine and embellishments will be squeezed into a small flat rate box. All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what gets your mojo flowing. You have until February 28, 2013 to enter. Best of luck!
Welcome back to crafting, Sam! I'm glad you got some mojo flowing again. Love the pinwheels and they stand out great on the black paper. And I love twine, so your clean and simple card is perfect for this week's MWT. When I'm not feeling the mojo, I like to look around at other people's blogs for inspiration. I may start with CASEing a card or two, then my mojo seems to start back up.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the blog-o-sphere! I adore that simple twine card. Totally stealing it!!
ReplyDeleteI have two ways to jump-start my mojo: 1) blog hopping/pinterest pinning, and 2) I use Microsoft OneNote to copy and paste ideas all the time. I have them organized by theme, technique, or sets I own. It's my best mojo mover because it covers all the jumping off points.
So...as an example, I am copying your twine card into my "Clean & Simple" file.
Becca I am glad to hear I am not the only one who hops around copying and pasting card ideas...I do the same thing.
DeleteGreat card-- I really like how you used the twine to make such a simple yet stunning card!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to finding your crafty side. I'm glad your kids brought back your mojo! You made such pretty cards! Your clean and simple card is so elegant. Those are my hardest cards to make because I LUV embellishing! Hope you keep your mojo flowing.
ReplyDeleteYour card is simple, yet lovely.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about sitting in the craft room staring at all your stuff trying to figure out what to do.
To get my mojo juices going I usually troll the Operation Write Home gallery and other galleries of cards, then back to the craft table with an idea in my head.
Another really big help is the ICP so many ideas
Good luck with your mojo!!
I really like both cards! The first is such a great way to use up scraps, and I love the black background! The CAS is fabulous with that twine! NJ on both! and welcome back to blogging again :)
ReplyDeleteSo excited to have you back and crafting Samantha! I like both of these a lot but the clean, simple twine and sentiment design is truly striking. It's so hard to do CAS well but you're really good at it! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Samantha! Good to see you back. I love that first card for the mixture of pattern papers you used. When my mo-jo takes a wander then I wander... through blogs like yours and challenge myself to give just one a try!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you back and crafting again Samantha! I love both cards and your take on this week's sketch. I have to admit the CAS with the twine in your state colors steals the show... I'll have to CASE this idea. The best way I know to get my mojo working is to see what other crafter's are doing. THanks for playing this week!
ReplyDeleteIt's baaaaack-- your mojo must be back- your cards are great! I love the papers in the pinwheel card and the design is perfect! And I love the simplicity of the state/twine card! I agree- a great CASE card!
ReplyDeleteI check out challenges when my mojo is gone... it helps me try something else and it gives me direction! I check out all the very inspiring blogs and I have taken a few online classes. When none of that works- I just stamp a bunch of random images and color! I find that relaxing -and then I can use the images when I am ready to create a card!oh- and I have my 11 year old niece come over to create- like your little one- if she can do it- I can too! And kids have no idea of what makes good design or color theory- they just like to have fun and know what looks good to them-- which usually turns out to be great design!
Thanks for sharing your cards! Lately I have not only lost the mojo but my gumption must have run off with it too and they took a vacation to someplace warm and sunny to escape the cold and snow and ice here. Usually the gumption sticks around, I open my stamp cabinet and choose a shelf and out a set from the bottom of the stack (meaning it has not seen love and ink in a while), then pull out a sketch with focal area that matches images in the set. By that time usually mojo is curious enough to come back and make suggestions.
ReplyDeleteJust had to say that I love your colors of your state flag card. Really like how you used your baker's twine. It has inspired a few card ideas. :) Thanks for sharing your inspiring designs with us. Hope you are able to get your mojo back.
ReplyDeleteHey girlie!! So glad to see you back. Awesome cards as always! :) Hugs to you and Chris and the kids!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I stir up my mojo in a number of ways: I visit my local stamp store's free demos where they're always showing the latest techniques, stamps and papers. I visit cardmakers' blogs, OWH's FB gallery, and flip through different card-making magazines, and go through my own stashes of papers, stamps because sometimes I just plain forget what I actually have on hand. I don't have a lot of time so I don't make many cards but I keep enjoying what others are making.
ReplyDeleteI like your cards - the colors against the black really make them 'pop' on the first card, and the bakers' twine in different colors on the second one always makes me happy! Thank you for sharing your cards!
